Plinia sp. Cabinho de Limeira Jaboticaba is named for its elongated penducle (cabinho) where it was found near the city of Limeira in São Paulo state, Brazil. The globose glabrous fruit can show a wide variety of colors including green, bronze, burgundy, and tan as they ripen to purple. The fruit make have lighter color streaking even once mature. The fruit's apex has no crown and the small sepals often fall off. The fruit skin is very thin and contains small seeds with a high percentage of excellent sweet pulp. The fruits often grow in small clusters with long peduncles hinting at likely Plinia trunciflora genetics. The lanceolate leaves have a typical tunciflora shape including the banana shape bend downwards. New and mature growth is glabrous and simply turns from light green to a darker green. The crown is notably dense and set leaves down to the ground. This variety was first made available to collectors in the USA in 2021.
