I am an Associate Professor in Private Law and the Director of the Nova Knowledge Centre on Business, Human Rights and the Environment at Nova Law School in Lisbon. I hold a PhD in International Law from the European University Institute, an LL.M in Private International Law and International Commercial Law from La Sorbonne Law School and a Double Bachelor in French and English Laws from UPEC.
Prior to joining Nova, I worked as a lecturer at the London School of Business and Management, and as a research assistant at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies of the University of Oxford. I was also a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute.
My main research interests focus on Business and Human Rights, Climate Change Law, Sustainable Corporate Governance, ESG Risk Management, Comparative Private Law and Private International Law. I am an Associate Research Fellow in Business and Human Rights at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law and regularly organise events and deliver short courses and trainings in the field of Business and Human Rights. I am currently working on human rights due diligence requirements for companies and analysing the various regulatory options at the domestic, European and international level to improve corporate accountability in global value chains. My work to date has resulted in a number of peer reviewed publications in English, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish including in the International and Comparative Law Quarterly, the Business and Human Rights Journal, the International Community Law Review, Business and Politics, Sustainability, the European Yearbook on Human Rights, Droit Social, Nederlands Internationaal Privaatrecht (NIPR) [Netherlands Private International Law], and the Revista Española de Derecho Internacional [The Spanish Review of International Law]. I have also contributed to various expert studies and policy reports for Governments, NGOs as well as European and International organisations. In particular, I was one of the leading co-authors of the Study for the European Commission on Corporate Due Diligence through the Supply Chains which serves as a basis for the ongoing legal developments in Sustainable Corporate Governance (SCG) initiative at the European level | Veja o perfil de Claire Bright no LinkedIn para saber mais sobre a experiência profissional, formação acadêmica, conexões e muito mais dessa pessoa
